This quest helps you level up in the game, and involves finding some missing magical items and chatting with interesting characters. Let’s break it down step-by-step!
What You Need to Know
- Varon Vamori is a tricky character you’ll have to find. He has information about a stolen Mage’s Staff.
- You can find him at the Mages Guild in Bravil between 8 AM and 10 AM. Outside of that, he’s either in the Chapel or at his house.
- Once you find him, you need to get the staff back from another NPC named Soris Arenim.
Step 1: Join the Mages Guild
To kick things off, head to the Arcane University in the Imperial City. Talk to Raminus Polas, who will help you join the Mages Guild. Your first task? Visit every Mages Guild chapter to get their recommendation.
Step 2: Meet Kud-Ei
Fast travel to Bravil and find the Mages Guild, which is located next to the Chapel. Inside, chat with Kud-Ei, who will inform you about a guild member, Ardaline, and the missing staff. She’ll also give you a Beguile scroll to use on Varon Vamori later!
Step 3: Locate Varon Vamori
Now, here’s the challenge. You need to find Varon Vamori inside the Mages Guild between 8 AM and 10 AM. If you’re there at the right time, just give it a moment, and he’ll show up. If you miss him, don’t worry—you can catch him outside or at his home.
Tip: Use the Beguile scroll on Varon to make him more willing to chat, but you can also increase his disposition (friendliness) through conversation.
Step 4: Get Back the Mage’s Staff
Once you’ve talked to Varon, head back to Kud-Ei. She’ll tell you to find Soris Arenim, who has the staff now. Fast travel to the Imperial City and walk to Soris’s house. You’ll need to get him to like you enough (about 70 disposition) so he’ll agree to return the staff.
You have two options here:
- Pay Soris 200 gold to get the staff back.
- Steal the staff from his house. You can pick the lock to access the drawers on the second floor to grab the staff.
Step 5: Deliver the Staff
With the staff in hand, return to the Mages Guild in Bravil and chat with Kud-Ei again. She’ll thank you and give you the all-important recommendation, plus the Captivate spell as a reward!
