Last year at the Game Awards, something exciting happened – the trailer for Elden Ring Nightreign was revealed! It felt like stepping into a dream world, unlike anything I had seen before. Much like many of you, I couldn’t wait to play. Luckily, I got selected to take part in the network test for the game! After pushing through some technical hiccups, I finally got to explore the mystical area of Limveld with some fellow players. Here’s what I thought about it!

Choose Your Hero

Before you embark on your epic adventure, you need to choose your hero class. Elden Ring Nightreign offers a variety of unique nightfarers, each with special abilities and styles. Whether you love charging in as a tank or prefer casting magic spells to help your friends, there’s a hero for you with eight different classes to choose from!

During the network test, I could play four classes: Wylder, Guardian, Recluse, and Duchess. My favorites? Wylder for that strong warrior vibe and the Duchess for her stealthy skills. Once you pick your class, it’s time to take flight on your bird glider and dive into the exciting world of Limveld!

Gameplay Overview

So what’s the game about? Elden Ring Nightreign is a cooperative online game that mixes roguelike features with elements from battle royale games. You can team up with friends or hop into matches with other players. Here’s how it works:

You’ll start at the roundtable (kind of like a central hub) to join a match. When your team is ready, a bird glider drops you into the action. But remember, this isn’t a leisurely stroll! You’ll need to defeat enemies, gather loot, and level up quickly before the night falls.

At the end of each day, you’ll have a boss battle. If you can’t defeat the boss, you have to restart the run from the beginning—but don’t worry, each run is different and randomized, which keeps things exciting!

Cool Movement Mechanics

One of the coolest things about Nightreign is how quickly you can move! You won’t need to worry about stamina while sprinting, and there’s even a cool jumping ability that feels like double jumps in some other games. Plus, there’s no fall damage, so you can jump around without fear!

Combat Fun

Each nightfarer class has its own unique special moves. For example, the Duchess can make her team invisible for a short time, which is super stealthy and strategic! This adds a fun layer to the gameplay as you and your squad plan your attacks.

Leveling Up

Leveling up your character in Nightreign is simple and straightforward. You don’t have to worry about managing every little stat. As you gather runes (which are like experience points), you can easily increase your character’s strength at special locations. This helps you become stronger quickly, especially in the early game!

Difficulty Level

Nightreign doesn’t have difficulty settings, which might sound daunting, but it balances being tough and fair. You’ll encounter familiar enemies that you can defeat fairly easily. However, when night falls, watch out! The boss fights are where the challenge really ramps up. The bosses are tough, but with teamwork, you can conquer them!
